Gourd Times Ahead: Your Guide to Our Fall Workshops

The air in Niagara has that crisp edge again, the vineyards are heavy with fruit, and our Workshop Village is full of pumpkins, succulents and warm autumn colour. Our fall workshops still have spaces, and each one ends with something beautiful you made yourself.

This Season’s Workshop Line-Up

01

Thanksgiving Pumpkin Arrangement

A real pumpkin becomes the vessel for a lush arrangement of seasonal blooms and foliage. It is a showstopper for the middle of the Thanksgiving table, and it is far easier to make than it looks when someone is there to guide you. Canadian Thanksgiving lands on Monday, October 12 this year, so the timing is just right.

02

Succulent Sanctuary Tray

For anyone who wants their creation to last well past the holidays. You’ll build a layered tray of succulents that can live happily on a sunny windowsill all winter. Low water, big personality, and a great first project if you’re new to plants.

03

Harvest Harmony Duo

Why make one when you can make a matching pair? This workshop is all about two pieces that belong together — perfect for flanking a front door, a mantel or a sideboard. It’s a lovely one to share with a friend, too.

Every workshop is made for all skill levels. You don’t need a green thumb — just a free afternoon.

04

A Fall Outing for Your Crew

Workshops make a wonderful group plan: a friends’ afternoon, a family catch-up before the holidays, or a team outing with more laughter than the usual boardroom. Everyone goes home with their own piece and a few new stories.

05

Make a Day of It in Vineland

Our workshops happen at our Vineland destination on King Street, so come early or stay late. Grab a coffee from the café, choose a treat from the Pastry Market (everything is baked in-house every day), or book a Tropical Garden Tea inside the greenhouse.

Keeping Your Creations Happy in Zone 6b

Here in Niagara we garden in zone 6b, and our average first fall frost arrives around October 15. That matters for what you take home. Pumpkin arrangements love the cool: keep yours out of direct sun and away from heat vents, top up the water every couple of days, and it will look fresh right through the long weekend. A covered porch works well on mild days, but bring it inside on nights with frost in the forecast.

Succulents are not frost-hardy, so your Sanctuary Tray is an indoor friend for the season. Give it your brightest window, water only when the soil is fully dry, and go easy on water through the darker winter months. That one habit keeps most succulents going strong until spring.

Why We Love Making Things by Hand

After more than 25 years as a family-run business, we still think the best part of the season is watching people surprise themselves. Someone arrives saying “I’m not creative,” and an hour later they’re taking photos of what they made. There’s something special about working with real pumpkins, seasonal stems and living plants.

Our team guides you through each step and shares the little florist’s tricks that make a big difference, so you leave with a piece you’re proud of and the know-how to try it again at home.

SPACES ARE LIMITED

Fall only comes around once a year, and our workshop tables fill up fast. Pick the project that makes you smile, gather your favourite people, and come and create something beautiful with us.
